Westbury Packaging has donated food boxes for a charity event that will bring together residents of Gillingham in Dorset for a very special Christmas Day this year.

The Gillingham Community Christmas Meal is now in its 3rd year and is organised by Jo Harvey. Jo explains that their objective is “to make sure that no-one in the town is left facing the festive day on their own.”.

Residents of all ages who might find themselves alone or unable to cope with a traditional Christmas Day are invited along to the Methodist Church Hall in Gillingham to enjoy a day of festivities and of course, that all important Christmas meal.

Jo Harvey goes on to say,

Last year we were so overwhelmed with food donations, that this year we have decided to send all our guests home with a packed tea for them to enjoy when they get home. Westbury Packaging have kindly donated the perfect boxes to use for this and we are most grateful.”

The boxes supplied by Westbury Packaging are made of heavy-duty double-layer corrugated cardboard with interlocking ends. The boxes are simple to assemble and sturdy. At a size of 8” x 8” x 8”, they are also easy to carry and perfect for sending each special guest home at the end of the day with a selection of goodies for their tea, such as cheese, cake, mince pies, sweets and biscuits.

Other supporters of the event include The Phoenix pub where the food will be cooked, a local nursery who have donated hand-drawn cards by the children, local Prime Cuts butchers, Stalbridge Linen and Father Christmas himself.

This year, 60 residents are expected to come together for the event. We would like to wish them all a fantastic Christmas Day!
