Job title: Maintenance EngineerPosition Filled

Reporting to: Operations Director

Position: Permanent

Working hours: 40 per week (days with the flexibility to cover repairs when necessary)

Salary: Up to £45,000 – £50,000 DOE

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs on all mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and machinery; this includes reviewing maintenance schedules and adjusting them as necessary so that systems function at peak levels, ensuring that the needs of our customers are met at all times.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Implement and sustain maintenance schedules and procedures for all equipment.
  • Maintenance and installation of all electrical control equipment when needed.
  • Undertake electrical and mechanical PPM.
  • Contribute to the development of mechanical and electrical engineering processes, good engineering practice and robust procedures to improve machinery performance.
  • Management of machine spare parts.
  • Always ensure compliance with appropriate regulations. 
  • Follow all company procedures, including all company health and safety requirements.
  • Responsible for mentoring and training a Maintenance apprentice.

Personal Profile

  • Experience working within the UK manufacturing industry.
  • Ideally also experienced within the corrugated packaging industry too.
  • Relevant qualifications in maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or similar engineering disciplines (ideally to HND or Degree level for Electrical &/or Mechanical Engineering).
  • A track-record of proven experience (ideally 5 years +).
  • The ability to engender good working relationships. 
  • Co-operative and professional.
  • Self-motivation and determination.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise their own workload.
  • A reliable and dependable self-starter.
  • Attention to detail. Calm, reliable, trustworthy, unflappable.
  • A full clean driving licence.

The ideal candidate will already have experience of manufacturing corrugated packaging, will have experience of multipoint gluing and will be looking to further their career in leading a shift on this machine in our finishing department.

Following the recent investment in our 5 colour casemaker with automatic palletisation, we are looking to recruit another experienced Lead casemaker.

The machine, a 4 colour/1 colour, 1632 Dong Fang HD2 with RDC and EDF automatic palletiser utilises the latest technology to ensure efficient, high-quality packaging from our production facility on Bowerhill, Melksham and was installed in 2022 following an investment of over £1.4 million.

The ideal candidate will already have experience of manufacturing corrugated packaging and will be looking to further their career in leading a shift on this machine, as well as leading on our other 3 colour Dong Fang 924 when required. A relocation assistance package is possible for the right candidate.

Due to increased expansion, Westbury Packaging Limited are seeking an individual to facilitate the delivery of tooling, inks, and equipment to ensure jobs are fully prepared in advance of the production process.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for managing the collection of tooling, inks and other items required from our dedicated storage areas, delivering to our modern and flexible machinery on a daily basis. The candidate will manage the maintenance of die cutting formes, printing stereos and ink mixing.

This role is key to our commitment to maximum efficiency throughout production and delivery to our customers.

No previous experience required, as full training will be given but a positive outlook and excellent attention to detail and working in an organised and tidy manner are key attributes.
